Brass Accents 2″ Backset Deadbolts

Brass Accents isn’t just kickplates and house numbers, it’s much more than that! Yes, Brass Accents kickplates are probably the most popular item, but they do have door hardware, house numbers, push and pull plates, and floor registers to offer too! Getting into a little more detail, their door hardware is super high class and quality, you won’t find hardware much like it. And when looking for door hardware, (door knobs, lever handle sets, entry sets and deadbolts) you may find there are hardly any option for a backset size that measures under 2 3/8″. I mean, there are some doors out there that have 2″ backset sizes, and it can be real tough to find something close to that.

Real brief, what is a backset? A backset is the measurement from the edge of the door to the center of the bore hole (the large hole where the door knob is installed). Standard size backset measurements are 2 3/8″ – 2 3/4″.

Brass Accents has made the search a little easier on you! They have 2 deadbolts that are available with the 2″ backset size.

First is the Brass Accents Single Cylinder Deadbolt with 2″ Backset

This single cylinder deadbolt (means that it has a keyed cylinder on the exterior and a thumb turn, like the one shown above, on the interior) comes with everything you see here, the 2″ backset deadbolt latch, mounting hardware, and keys. It’s available in 13 different finishes! Such as polished brass like shown, weathered black, oil rubbed bronze, pewter, satin nickel and lots more!

Then we have the Brass Accents Double Cylinder Deadbolt with 2″ Backset

This double cylinder deadbolt (meaning it has a keyed cylinder on the exterior, as well as on the interior) also comes with all the mounting hardware, 2″ backset, and keys. Choose from all 13 finishes!

Hopefully these 2 deadbolts with 2″ backsets help ease your stress a little! Please give us a call if you need help ordering.

Low Profile Lock for Screen or Storm Door

Low_Profile1_300There are tons and tons of options when it comes to choosing a knob or lever for your entry door, but sometimes your door has special needs, which limits the options a little. An example would be an entry door with a screen or storm door and a regular old standard door knob or lever won’t work because it may protrude out too far. You need a special knob lever that doesn’t stick out too far because the space is tight and limited.

That’s what the Brass Accents Salem low-profile lever is all about! You can tell from the picture above, the lever is slightly different than regular door levers. It’s specifically designed for extra tight spaces to use for when you have a swing screen door, patio door, or sliding screen doors. It only projects as far as 1 1/4″ (compared to a regular door lever that projects 2 1/2″ give or take) which helps give room when there is such a tight space.

With the Salem Low Profile lever you get to choose from 13 different finishes, such as polished brass, antique brass, polished chrome, weathered black, weathered rust, satin brass, oil rubbed bronze, pewter, satin nickel, venetian bronze, antique copper, polished nickel and verdigris!

The Brass Accents low-profile lever is not available in a keyed function (only as a passage function or dummy function), so you would need to use a deadbolt along with it. Brass Accents offers a low profile deadbolt available that would be nice if low profile is what you need to work with. The deadbolt may not be on the site yet, so please contact us if you aren’t able to find it and we can place the order by phone!

NOTE: This low profile lever is designed with a 2″ backset latch (*not a standard 2 3/8″ backset or 2 3/4″ backset size latch).

What Hardware do I need for an Exterior Door? Linnea Style

When you have a front, or maybe just an exterior door, it’s hard to remember what kinds of hardware you need for installing – and not just that… making it look nice in the process too. That’s the fun part about it though, there is style in every little piece of hardware nowadays. Down to the tiniest door stop.

What Hardware Will I Need?

For a front door, or exterior door, the main things you will need are as follows:

  • A door knob or lever
  • A deadbolt
  • A few hinges
  • A doorstop

Like the question says above, these are things you need, and we can get into the miscellaneous stuff in a bit. I am doing all this Linnea Hardware style, but this really could work with any brand.

Your first main thing would be a doorknob, lever handle, whatever you want to call it, choose your style. Like maybe the Linnea LL-97 Stainless Steel Lever just for an example.

ll97s You can see it’s available in either a round or square rosette. Now Linnea’s levers are not available with a keyed function, because that would totally mess with the design to stick an ugly keyed cylinder on the front of these sleek and clean looking levers, so you will want to go with a passage function. Don’t worry, there will be a lock on the door, it just wont be by the lever.

*NOTE: If you want to check out all of Linnea’s Levers, click here.

Then we can move on to choosing a great style deadbolt, the keyed part for your door for security. How about the Linnea DBR200 Single Cylinder

This would look really nice with the round rosette of the lever above.

*NOTE: See all of Linnea’s Deadbolts here.

Hinges are next.

You’ll find 3 1/2″ up to 4 1/2″ Linnea hinges, which is helpful if you need to match where your existing hinges may be.

Now to the door stops, this may not be totally necessary if your door will no way hit a wall or anything, but there is a giant selection of Linnea Door Stops.

What Other Types of Hardware Could Be Used on/around an Exterior Door?

  • Mail Slots
  • House Numbers
  • Kickplates
  • Door Knockers
  • Flush Bolts
  • Surface Bolts
  • Doorbell Covers
  • Screen Door Locks
  • Address Plaques

New Handleset from Sure-Loc!

Oh man, I just love new stuff! Sure-Loc comes out with all kinds of new great looking modern hardware.

They did it again. A handleset they like to call Koln. The Sure-Loc Koln Entrance Handleset has nice straight lines and fits that modern style you may be going for. It would look awesome on a front door. BAM! That’s the sound you would hear in your head when you see it on a front door. Your eyes might get wide and  your heart may start to race a little, don’t worry it’s just excitement of how fantastic that handleset looks. Making a great first impression to your neighbors!

The Sure-Loc Koln Handleset is like I said, modern and that means that it has modern finishes! Some hardware you may find only comes in one finish, but the new Koln is available in polished chrome as well as satin stainless. Both look awesome. The interior of the handleset looks just as great as the exterior…

The interior part of the deadbolt has straight lines and a nice thick thumbturn to grip that looks stylish as well. The picture above shows the interior with the new basel lever, but you can choose from 3 different levers – The Sure-Loc Basel Lever, Juneau Lever (one of the most popular modern levers from Sure-Loc), or Torino Lever. Choose from a single cylinder handleset (like the one shown in the picture), or dummy handleset (which is a non functioning handleset that is mounted to the door, usually used on double doors where you may want both doors to look the same).

If you are looking to match this look throughout the rest of your house, check out Sure-Loc’s Basel Lever, Juneau Lever, Torino Lever,Oslo Lever, as well as the Sure-Loc Modern Square Deadbolt, and Modern Round Deadbolt.

Sure Loc Electronic Keypad Deadbolt

This Sure Loc Electronic Keypad Deadbolt is pretty new to the site! Electronic or keyless deadbolts are like a super tool! And if you have tried one, you won’t want to go back to a regular old deadbolt and their silly keys. It’s really nice to just have to remember a simple code and your in! That sounds really nice for me! Especially right now because you have to really pull (in, out, up, down) the door and wiggle the key many times before being able to turn the key with all you might to open the door. It doesn’t make it easy when your arms are full.

About the Keyless Deadbolt:

The Sure Loc Keyless Electronic Deadbolt operates on batteries, four “AA” batteries. It requires no hard wiring! Don’t worry, the batteries for the deadbolt will last quite a long time and there is a warning light and sound to indicate that the batteries are low and will need replacing, so you can be sure not to get locked out! This deadbolt is easy to install and easily replace your regular deadbolt on your standard door! The Sure Loc Keyless Electronic Deadbolt is a single cylinder deadbolt, which means it has a keyed cylinder on the outside of the door (like shown in the picture above, on the left) and a thumbturn on the inside of the door (like shown in the picture above, on the right). There are a few different ways to lock and unlock the door – The most obvious way to unlock would be by using the (4-6 digit) entry code that you programed. And to lock easily when you are leaving, you can activate the automatic lock feature, which allows the door to lock as soon as you shut the door. You can also lock from the inside using the easy to grip thumbturn, or you can lock and unlock the door with a regular key from the outside just like a regular deadbolt.

Kwikset Door Hardware Combos

I was just looking through some of the Kwikset Hardware and thought how some of the so and so levers I was looking through combined with such and such deadbolts would look real nice and sleek. Looking through the website is how a lot of my blog posts come about, so I thought, who knows, maybe this post could help someone’s decision?

The first combo that I pictured in my mind together was the Kwikset 993 Single Cylinder Deadbolt along with the Kwikset Signature Series Vedani Lever.

Picture 21292

So here you can see what it is I pictured inside my little imagination. I will admit, the shiny colors caught my first interest. Both the deadbolt and lever are in the polished chrome finish and I think it really looks super nice. After putting the deadbolt together with the lever, the finish isn’t the only thing that looks nice! I like the square rosette combined with the round. If you aren’t diggin’ the Polished Chrome finish like I am, both the deadbolt and lever come in other finishes such as, Satin Nickel, Venetian Bronze, Satin Chrome.

When I started looking for pictures to show off on this post of some of the combinations that I was thinking may look really nice together, I found some pictures that were already put together. Kwikset must have read my mind, because I really liked these combos too.

Picture 21292This is that same lever from the first picture, the Kwikset Signature Series Vedani Lever combined with the Kwikset 993S Single Cylinder Square Deadbolt. Also a nice combo. Again, maybe you aren’t a huge Polished Chrome fan, so be sure to check out the Venetian Bronze, Satin Nickel, and Satin chrome – any of these would look really nice too!

Last but not least…

The Kwikset 993 Single Cylinder Deadbolt, again, combined with the nice and unique Kwikset Signature Series Katara Lever. Again with the polished chrome, I know. I think it just looks so nice.

Also! You can save 5% on all Kwikset Hardware! This offer may not last for ever… Ask us for more information if you are interested.

A Knob with Deadbolt Combo

For exterior doors, lots of times you need more than just an entrance door knob – I think it’s actually recommended that you get a deadbolt to go along with your entrance knob. At least that’s what we recommend. Why? A simple answer is to add more security. Deadbolts are a lot more secure than just a entrance door knob because of their bolt that goes deeply into the jamb. The deadbolt might easily be forgotten, and also it can be challenging to find a deadbolt that matches the door knob. This is probably a good time to tell you that there is a solution to this problem. On our site you can find Max Grade door knob with deadbolt combo packs to make is so much easier than you can imagine to order. All you are in charge of is selecting a finish and of course the quantity. It’s as simple as that. What’s also great about these combo sets is that they are keyed alike, so you don’t have to worry about the deadbolt key not matching the door knob key.

The first combo pack is the Max Grade Watson Knob with Deadbolt Combo. You can see in the picture below that the Watson door knob is a simple round shaped door knob and is available in Polished Brass, Satin Nickel, Aged Bronze and Oil Rubbed Bronze finishes. The deadbolt is a Single Cylinder Deadbolt.

Next is the other combo set – The Max Grade Baker knob with Deadbolt Combo. The door knob style (Baker door knob) is an egg shaped style of door knob which is a little more unique compared to the Watson (see above). This set is also available in Polished Brass, Satin Nickel, Aged Bronze and Oil Rubbed Bronze finishes. The deadbolt is a Single Cylinder Deadbolt.

Affordable Hardware

I know it can get super overwhelming and maybe even frustrating when it’s time to start looking for all new hardware for your home. It might be scary to think of how much it will cost when it’s all said and done. Maybe you are on a tight budget and are not looking to spend an arm and a leg for all the hardware, but still want every piece to look really great. Believe it or not, you can have all of that! Sure Loc is affordable and offers pretty much every style you can think of – like rustic, decorative or elegant styles, and modern. You will find a variety of finishes with every style. But the most important part is just how affordable Sure Loc really is! I think modern styles are probably the most popular right now and if you compare Sure-Loc’s modern lever prices with other higher quality brands that carry a similar modern style, you will see that you can nearly get 2 Sure Loc Modern style levers for the price of one from other brands.

Check out the Sure Loc Juneau Modern Lever for kicks- The most popular modern lever from Sure-Loc.

There is more where that came from. The Sure Loc modern levers example was to just give you an idea of what Sure Loc is all about. Great styles that are affordable. There are lots of other style to check out too. Maybe you are more about rustic rough edges and dark finish sandcast, if that’s true you might like the Sure Loc Wasatch Handleset:

Or how about classy and elegant? Sure Loc also offers bath hardware, cabinet hardware and other miscellaneous items (like door stops and hinges and whatever else) some more fancy than others. Sure Loc Sage Series bath hardware is definitely fancy:

Like I said already and I will say it again, there is plenty more hardware from Sure Loc to look through and all of it is affordable as well as good looking!

Schlage B250 Gatelatch

The Schlage single cylinder B250 gatelatch or nightlatch is basically a deadbolt that latches behind you when you leave. You can see the difference between a regular deadbolt latch and the B250 gatelatch in the picture below,

The B250 latch is kind of like an entrance lever or door knob latch, where you can close the door (or gate) behind you and there is no need to turn a knob for it to latch. Compare it to a regular deadbolt latch, where you have to manually turn the inside thumb turn or outside key to bolt the door shut. Don’t try and shut the door when that deadbolt latch is engaged, or you might end up with a dent in your door jam.

The main purpose of the B250 deadbolt is to use it on a gate (hence the name gatelatch) for condos or apartment buildings where it is necessary to keep the door locked after exiting. Maybe for like a pool or maybe a utility room. This way there is no need to require occupants to have a key to exit, there is a turn piece from the inside that you simply turn to exit, and the outside keyed cylinder always stays locked behind them after they exit. And this is also a great idea for emergency reasons, because you don’t want someone to have to try and find a key to exit in case of emergency like a fire for example.

The B250 gatelatch is available as a single cylinder deadbolt, which means it has a keyed cylinder only on the outside. And this deadbolt is also reversible, which means you don’t have to worry about handing when ordering. That makes ordering a lot easier. The gatelatch is also available in Satin Chrome, Oil Rubbed Bronze, or Bright Brass.
